Class Fees

Pre-Registration is Required!
Except for Life Long Learning and Adults with Disabilities, pre-registration is required for all classes.
Registration for Community Education classes must be completed 2 business days/48 hours prior to the start of the class.
Saturday class registration must be completed by 8:00pm Wednesday before the class. The office is not open on Saturdays, even when classes are in session.
See below for details on how to register. Some classes have additional requirements.

ESL/High School/GED/Basic Education
There is a $35/semester (ESL) or $45/semester (High School/GED/Basic Ed) registration processing fee for an unlimited number of classes per semester. There is still no class tuition fee.

Off-Site Older Adult
These classes now have a $35/semester registration processing fee. There is still no class tuition fee. (Some of the off-site locations charge a separate facility usage fee of their own.)

Career Tech Ed
Computer classes, some health career classes, and other career training classes have a variety of fees depending on the number of hours and meetings. Check the individual listings for details.

Community Education (Fee-Based Classes)
Saturday workshops, foreign languages, dance, traffic school, and other Community Education classes have a fee based on the number of hours and a minimum student attendance.

Which Method to Use?
Off-site programs (Life-Long Learning, Adults with Disabilities): Registration can be completed at the off-site class location, in the BAS Main Office, or by mail. Payment by check or money order only. Off-site class non-refundable registration fee is $35.
Career Tech Ed (computer classes, career prep, accounting): Any method below.
Community Education (dance, languages, art, etc): Any method below except phone-in.
Traffic school, ESL, GED, High School Diploma, most health industry programs: All require in-person registration because of additional requirements like ID check, testing, or orientation.
First Aid/CPR: Any method below.

1. Online with a credit card • Easiest and fastest method
Most career, technical, and Community Education classes (links at top and bottom of this page) have online registration available. There are a few off-site classes available with this method.

BAS accepts VISA, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express.

Please note: If you are on a PC with Windows operating system, Firefox may not work properly for online registration. Use Internet Explorer instead.

2. By Phone for Some Classes
Sorry, the phone-in period is over.

3. In Person
Visit the office during regular office hours at 1701 San Pablo Ave, between Franicsco and Virginia in Berkeley. Here's a map. You may use a check (for no more than $85), credit card, money order, or cash.

4. By Mail
Mail in a registration form picked up in the school office, or print out a form downloaded here. Fill in and mail with check (for no more than $85), or credit card number (Visa/Discover/MasterCard/American Express), expiration date, and your signature. No cash in the mail please!

5. By FAX
Download a registration form, and fax to 510.644.6784. Include credit card number, expiration date, and your signature. (Visa/Discover/MasterCard/American Express)

Notice About Payment
There will be a service charge of $25 on all checks that fail to clear through your bank.
