The City of Berkeley's Echo Lake Camp
in partnership with
BAS Life Long Learning Program
presents a
50+ WEEKEND AT ECHO LAKE

Friday, August 15 - Monday, August 18

Berkeley Adult School's Life Long Learning program in partnership with the City of Berkeley's Echo Lake Camp will offer a special 4-day/3-night weekend getaway. Echo Lake Camp, a city run camp established in 1922, is perched atop a 7,400 feet high ridge with breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe and Lake Valley, and features 18 acres of Red Fir forest, meadows and rocky cliffs.

Berkeley Adult School has been offering classes to the Berkeley community since 1888, but this is the first time it will offer an entire weekend of programs and activities at Echo Lake camp.

Activities
Campers will be able to choose from a variety of optional workshops and activities by Berkeley Adult School teachers, and will have a number of recreational options, including swimming in the camp pool or nearby Echo Lake, fishing, ping pong, basketball, volleyball, badminton, bocce ball, canoeing and other sports. Campers can also hike into nearby Desolation Wilderness, soak in the hot tub, or simply sit in the lodge and read a favorite book or relax on the observation deck overlooking the valley.

Accommodations
Participants will share rustic wooden canvas-covered cabins. Cabins have beds and mattresses, but campers bring sleeping bags. Bathrooms and showers are nearby, and campers will enjoy three hot, wholesome and balanced buffet meals each day in the dining hall. In addition to the salad and soup bar, there are lots of vegetarian options. You can also get snacks and drinks all day long, or sign up for a bag lunch for your hike.

Please Note
Be prepared for high elevation, dry climate, sun exposure, and uneven ground.

Pick Up and Drop Off
An air-conditioned charter bus will pick campers up at Berkeley Adult School (Virgina and Kains) at 9:00 a.m. on Friday August 15th, and drop campers off at 4:00 p.m. on Monday August 18th.
