BUSINESS COMMUNICATION AND JOB PREPARATION Sharpen your skills in using the language of the business world to be more effective at work and project a professional image. Course includes vocabulary building, spelling, telephone skills, review of grammar and punctuation, writing letters and memos using Word, and human relations on the job. Learn proper formatting of business correspondence and practice presenting information orally. Also covered: job search techniques such as interest and skills assessment, job resources, interview techniques and practice, and completing job applications, resumes and cover letters. Practice attitudes that will help you get and keep a job. Certificate offered.
KEYBOARDING/LEARNING TO TYPE ON THE COMPUTER Highly recommended as the first computer class to take to become a successful computer user. This course is individualized to teach three levels of keyboarding: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Students will also be introduced to basic computer functions and formatting features. Receive a Proficiency Rating Letter.
WRITING/SPEAKING/TELEPHONING IN A MULTICULTURAL BUSINESS Students from many cultures will study business communication practices used in U.S. businesses and compare those with practices from other countries. How are letters, memos, and emails written? What should one say when answering the business phone? How can we communicate in meetings with people from different backgrounds? What are the rules of polite business behavior? ESL students must be at level 300 or higher. Certificate offered.
